COMBUSTIBLE AL FUEGO

LA INEFICACIA DE LA REPRESIÓN ESTATAL COMO MEDIDA PARA ABORDAR LA PROTESTA SOCIAL

Resumen

El presente ensayo abordará el fenómeno de la protesta social. Específicamente, se realizará un análisis de cómo influye la decisión que toman los gobiernos de reprimir a las y los manifestantes, tanto por medio de la violencia, como por medio de la aplicación de sanciones penales. Estableciéndose que esta decisión es ineficaz a la luz de cuatro líneas argumentales, desarrolladas a través del caso del “estallido social” ocurrido en Chile el año 2019: vulnera Derechos Humanos, no disminuye la criminalidad, no disminuye la participación en las manifestaciones, y genera un impacto negativo en la economía. Todo esto, con miras a afrontar el desafío de un futuro escenario de protestas que puede reactivarse en Latinoamérica. 

ABSTRACT

This essay will adress the phenomenon of social protest. Specifically, an analysis will be made of how the decisión of the governments to repress the protestants, both through violence and though the application of criminal sanctiones. Establishing that this decisión is ineffective by virtue of four lines of argument that will be developed through the case of the "social explosion" that occurred in Chile in 2019: violates Human Rights, does not reduce crime, does not decrease participation in demonstrations, and generates a negative impact on the economy. All this will be done with a view to facing the challenge of a future scenario of protests that can be reactivated in Latin America.
